Ever since the creation of Barón de Ley in 1985, the vineyards have played a vital role in the project. The idea of producing an “estate wine”, a wine in which the enologist merely interprets the unique character of each vintage, meant first finding a vineyard capable of expressing all the qualities of our land.

Already, back in the 16th century, Benedictine monks originating from the Monastery of Irache, who tended the vines in these plots, realised the ideal conditions for growing grapes of excellent quality which were to be found on the Imas estate.
