Le CHATEAU PECH-CELEYRAN a été laissé en héritage en 1868 à Isaure, Baronne de RIVIERES, soeur d'Alexandre Léonce TAPIE-MENGAU, Seigneur de CELEYRAN et grand-père du peintre Henri de TOULOUSE-LAUTREC
Dans la famille de SAINT-EXUPERY, depuis maintenant 4 générations, après le mariage, le 2 avril 1902, de Caroline d'ANDOQUE de SERIEGE, qui l'avait reçu de ses parents, avec Joseph, Comte de SAINT-EXUPERY, grand père de Mr Jacques SAINT EXUPERY, actuel dirigeant de l'exploitation viticole. Aujourd'hui Nicolas et Ombline, deux de ses cinq enfants reprennent le flambeau.
Si c'est la culture de la vigne qui fait la gloire de La Clape, cela n'est pas dû à un hasard.
Les vignerons sont ici Héritiers d'une tradition plus de 2 fois millénaire.
La Clape reçu en effet ces premiers ceps à la fin du 2ème siècle avant J.C., et ses vins très corsés étaient, par la "Via domitia", exportés vers l'ouest, le pays Ruhène, sur des chariots chargés d'amphores.
The château Pech Céleyran is situated in Languedoc in Aude county, in the commune of Salles d'Aude on the north eastern edge of the hills named Massif de la Clape.
It was bequethead in 1868 to Isaure, Baron de RIVIERES, the sister of Alexandre TAPIE-MENGAU, Lord of Céleyran and grandfather of the painter Henri de TOULOUSE-LAUTREC. It came, by female descendance, into the hands of the SAINT EXUPERY family and has now been so for 5 generations. Nicolas and Ombline de Saint-Exupéry are now managing Pech-Céleyran.
The land of Pech-Céleyran (Pech=hill) is within the area of the LA CLAPE appellation, an integral part of AOC Coteaux du Languedoc.
It is always a surprise for the traveller to come to the Massif de la Clape. The road suddenly starts to wind up round tight bends into amazing scenery : deep gorges, steep cliffs, spinneys scattered among the stone-clad and vast areas of the wild open scenery we call "garrigue'.
