"Named for the highest and steepest block in the vineyard, where the first of the Rhone varietals were planted in 1998, this wine was aged 18 months in new French and American Oak barrels. A blend of 32% Grenache, 25% Mouvedre, 17% Syrah, 15% Merlot, 10% Malbec and 2% Cinsault, it is generous with a nose of ripe raspberries, white pepper, leather, and spice. Blueberry, earth, and a hint of tar on the mid-palate wraps around a sizeable yet supple frame of elegant, ripe, fine tannins. A dramatic statement of place in an harmonious red blend.”
