The name Canoso has always been linked to a family with longstanding farming traditions.
The present family derives from two distinct units, the Meneghello family headed by Giuseppe who came from Brognoligo, a village buried amongst  the vines and hills of the Soave DOC Classico production area, and the Canoso family headed by Giovanni, who lived in nearby Monteforte d'Alpone not far from the famous medieval castle in Soave, home of this glorious wine of the same name. From the beginning of the 1800s both the Canoso and Meneghello families intuitively came to understand the importance of cultivating vines on their land.  They soon decided to change from vegetable growing to the care of strong flourishing vines and chose only the best areas of their property up on the hills situated in the Soave Classico production area to turn into vineyards. Some historical documents found in the old building on Monte Crocetta, which has always been Meneghello property, show that after a brief initial  period when our grapes were taken to local  wineries, we began to produce our own wine for direct sale as early as 1876.
The wine we produced then was the famous traditional Vin Santo di Brognoligo. In 1935 when Primo Meneghello married Lucia Canoso, the Canoso family, having no male heirs who could carry on the Canoso name, asked for the two families to be united and so began the Meneghello Canoso line.It was Giuseppe Meneghello Canoso, the first male heir of this new family, who turned the family company from just a vine growing concern into both a vinegrowing and winemaking one, thanks to the help of his father Primo, and with the close collaboration of his wife Gabriella, He also turned to producing quality wines using the native varieties of vines grown on the land that has been in the family for so many years.Today the same passion and the same tenacity shown by Giuseppe Meneghello Canoso is shared by his two sons, Massimo and Primo, who are now carrying on the wine making work.  The philosopy behind their work is that meticulous care should be taken in all the  phases of the production process in the knowledge that true quality can be obtained only by starting from quality in the vine.
