The Hogue family has farmed in Washington's Columbia Valley for more than 60 years. By the mid-1970's, the family ranch in the Yakima Valley had grown to 1,700 acres and consisted of apples, hops, Concord grapes, asparagus and mint. In 1979, Mike Hogue planted the family's first vinifera wine grapes: six acres of Riesling.
As Hogue Cellars expanded, Mike and Gary focused tirelessly on developing superior viticulture and winemaking techniques. Their goal was simple: to produce wines of uncompromising quality showcasing pure varietal flavors. In 1997, these wines became known as "Genesis."
Today, Genesis maintains exceptional quality standards. From the acclaimed Columbia Valley vineyards that supply its fruit, to the superior barrels in which the wines age, each bottle of Genesis celebrates the Hogue family's vision, entrepreneurial spirit and passion to produce world-class Washington State wines.
